Since 1963, The Fellowship Center has worked successfully to establish, operate and maintain residential rehabilitation centers for the recovery and rehabilitation of those suffering from alcoholism and other drug-related problems. TFC also cooperates with other fellowships, recovery homes, organizations and social agencies concerned with alcohol and other drug-related problems.

The Fellowship Center is a private, nonprofit corporation (501[c] 3) and services are funded, in part, by The County of San Diego Health and Human Services Agency (HHSA), the State of California's Department of Alcohol and Drug Programs (ADP), the Veterans' Administration Halfway House Alcoholism Treatment Program (VA ATP) and other sources.

TFC is governed by a voluntary Board of Directors and is licensed by the State Department of Alcohol and Drug Programs. All program staff are credentialed addiction specialists.
